ha noi

two mornings

x-ing st lowry st
puts the conversation on hold
arrive ask the next table for chairs
leaf the leftovers of the house newspaper

sparrows might eye that pair
of speaker boxes in the eaves
but I can’t help it if I’m
immune to your infectious psychedelia

leafing what's left
of the newspaper: Death
but what’s with the inquiry? this is War
(isn’t it?)

phnom penh and poem

for reception. dial...

No sooner. the premise.

than the flightdeck interjects.

wisdom. ceiling-to-platform.

-

here at the border.

my name knows no diminutive.

no sobriquet. welcome to.

-

nights shell stamped motorways.

a room. equatorial.

to shiver in. at what time.

-

the hotel.

and its sisters.

not minutes away.

-

slapstick was born.

at the corner of. cashed-up

and haggling. like lears eldest.

-

your room. one o seven.

this wall. an etiolate waterlilies.

some phrase to note.

-

steps forward

like the mirror extends the room.

wherever you go.

-

dont ask me the way.

to distraction. corner of.

two hundred

-

seventy two stairs

well call countless.

the citadel. two wars on.

-

its moss black balustrades.

a bridge and niche location.

for photographs. i.e. postcards.

-

(i will email you. the postcards.)

of drip coffee. palm oil and biodiesel.

if the xich lo. goes electric.

-

post departure drags...

in a matchbox couchette.

microclimates defined between

-

top. and bottom bunk beds.

last nights. wake up call. incidental sunrise.

are we at the banana-leafy

-

border. in that cloud.

of unfiltered drum. and brickdust. not yet?

there are no rooms.

-

your name.

is waiting at the border.

"i will meet you there."
